The Cincinnati Rollergirls, the Queen City's all amateur, flat track roller derby team practicing at the legendary Cincinnati Gardens for their final bout of the 2014 season.

There are few buildings left quite like the Cincinnati Gardens: an intimate, old school arena that has seen everything from The Beatles to boxing. One of its primary tenants these days are the Cincinnati Rollergirls - a skater owned and operated amateur roller derby team.

The Rollergirls have called the Gardens home since 2007 and on the evening of June 7th will have their final bout of the 2014 season. If you haven't seen roller derby live before, it's pretty damn cool and works so well in the storied halls of the Gardens.

I had the opportunity to hang out for one of their practices the other night and watch the team prepare for their final game of the season. As always, roller derby is way more intense up close - so if you go to the game on the 7th, it may be worth springing for trackside seats.
