Photographs from September 2016 that don't necessarily have a place in a larger article or story. Images made with a Canon 7DMKII and iPhone 6.

One of the biggest highlights this month was the opening of the Cincinnati Streetcar (now known as the Cincinnati Bell Connector), the city's return to rail transit after the last streetcar's stopped rolling in 1951. After years of
joining countless others in advocating for the project, it finally became a reality on September 9th, 2016. I spent that weekend working, making thousands of photographs to mark the occasion. These were some of the highlights:
|
- Streetcar passing Washington Park on 12th Street. |
|
- Streetcar passing down Walnut Street in front of the Contemporary Arts Center. |
|
- A performer from ArtsWave performs at the opening weekend festivities while the streetcar rolls by in the background on Elm Street. |
|
- 92 year old Earl Clark was on the then final streetcar ride in 1951. He was on the first inaugural ride for the new system in 2016 after receiving a standing ovation at the opening festivities. |
|
- The streetcar waiting to turn on 2nd Street just outside of Great American Ballpark's plaza. |
Another high note of Streetcar Opening Weekend was running into Todd "Zook" Hepburn of
Arnold's. I heard him playing Irving Berlin's "Blue Skies" from a block or so over and came by to listen.
Made a quick video of him playing "Crusin' Down The River" as the streetcar rolled by on Main Street:
As the weekend passed, the streetcar became part of everyday life in the city. Among many of the great benefits is that there's now more lunch options available, such as Findlay Market...
...or packing peanut butter and jelly and riding to Washington Park for lunch:
