Cincy on CineStill
Since getting back into 35mm film in 2018, I’ve mainly stuck with various Kodak stock such as Portra, Gold, and Ultramax. While at Western Hills Photo to pick up some developed rolls a few months back, I decided to try something different: CineStill 800T. The company website describes their products as “motion picture film for still photographers.” Their history and commitment to an “analog renaissance” is cool, but what really drew me to the brand was seeing so many friends use the film. So I decided to give it a go around home with a Canon AE-1 (and apparently one of its lenses sporting a light leak).
After sharing the above photograph on social media, one person commented: “if not for the SUV and Queen City Square in the background, this looks like a photo straight out of the 1970s.” I love that observation. Thanks, Ryan.
